Philanthropy and community service are valuable parts of sorority life. Each NPC sorority has a
national or international philanthropy it supports, and collegiate and alumnae chapters also do service and raise funds for organizations
in their own communities. During the
2014-15 year alone, NPC sorority members raised more than $34.8 million for
charities and donated more than 2.9 million hours to worthy causes.
As a sorority member, participating in philanthropy efforts
allows you to grow. It’s an opportunity to discover causes that matter to you,
and it’s an opportunity to lead your chapter. Chapters may host one or more
philanthropic events each semester to help raise awareness of and funds for their
local, national or international charities. Chapter members have the
opportunity to plan these events, building relationships with organizations,
gaining skills in event management and serving as a leader.
Philanthropic participation also introduces you to your
campus fraternity and sorority community. Members support
other fraternity and sorority chapters' causes on campus. This provides an occasion to bond with your own sisters and other fraternity and sorority members.
Plus it allows you to learn about even more charitable organizations. Volunteering together is a great way to build
No matter which NPC organization you join, you’ll be part of
an organization and chapter that values commitment to community service and philanthropy.
