The Sorority Network

Friday, March 09, 2012

It all happens so fast: The first event you walk into during recruitment, the excitement that lingers over your campus on Bid Day, sisterhood bonding events throughout your new member period, initiation, social events ... Before you know it, you're walking on stage to receive a diploma and then headed toward the "real world." You think to yourself, "Where has the time gone?" Although graduation may seem far away for some of you, it can be scary to leave your collegiate life behind and move forward into a career.

Something that might ease those worries is that fact that sorority women, have a lifetime network of friends. More than 4 million women have been through those same experiences after college and can be used as a support system throughout life. You can use sorority membership as a means to meet other Panhellenic women after moving across the country or as a networking tool in the job market.

Typically the most prominent moments that stand out during your lifetime sorority membership are those spent in college, living with your sisters and wearing your letters proudly around campus. But there is so much more ahead after your collegiate career that lifetime membership has to offer.

A great opportunity to see the network of sorority women occurs the first Monday of March each year:, -International Badge Day. This event was established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference as a time for sorority women worldwide to wear their sorority badges or Greek letters in a celebration of sisterhood.

From the outside looking in, sorority life appears to be a commitment only during your time in college, but truly it is something that will always remain part of your life, so imagine the possibilities sorority membership has to offer.
